Plainsboro Receives American Rescue Plan Firefighter Grant

Plainsboro Fire District is thrilled to announce that we have received a $50,000 grant from Governor Murphy as part of American Rescue Plan Firefighter Grants for personal protective equipment, cleaning and sanitizing equipment. These funds will help defray the cost of replacement firefighter personal protective gear. The state issued a total of $20 million dollars to 353 departments in a competitive application process.

“Due to increasing costs and decreasing available funds, it has been necessary to re-use older gear for our newly recruited firefighters which often means the gear does not always fit properly, causing safety concerns,” says Jim Pedley, Treasurer of the Plainsboro Fire Board of Fire Commissioners. “I am proud of our staff who worked tirelessly to apply for this grant and am happy we can now provide new protective gear to our firefighters.”

In an effort to defray some of the taxpayer costs, Plainsboro Fire District and its employees apply to every available grant they qualify for.
